A coast-wide leviathan sighting. Hunt it along the Woodwater coast.

Meet the Woodwater harbormaster
'Shadeshore's letter came two hours before the thing breached off our seaside. Big as a skiff, dark on top. Took out a buoy line. We need eyes on it before we lose another boat.'
Cast for sign at the seaside
The water's wrong here. Cold patches where the sun should warm it. Your line pulls and pulls and then snaps. Whatever's down there moved off west.
Walk the coast trail west
Two miles of trail and you find a section of buoy rope cut clean through. Not bitten. Cut. By something with edges.
Set a longer line off Shadeshore
You drop the heavy line where the den tracker said the dead one washed up. Something hits it once, hard enough to drag you a step. Then it lets go.
Cook bait at the spit
Burnt fish carries further in cold water. You scorch two mantas black and dump them off the rocks. The slick spreads. Now you wait.
Watch the water from the den
From the high rocks you see it. A back the length of the bait slick, dark blue, gone in three seconds. The tracker beside you doesn't speak for a full minute.
Race back to the Woodwater dock
By the time you reach the dock the thing has surfaced and gone again. Two fishers are pulling a third out of the water. He's alive. His boat isn't.
Report the chase to the harbormaster
'It's real. It's big. And it knows we're hunting it.' She closes her log. 'Winteredge has the deep water. If we want it, we go where it lives.'
