Walkthrough

1. Take the inquiry at Longha Bank
   'A clerk was robbed last week. The lockbox was empty by morning, but the wax seal on the lid was still warm. Same mark turned up in Shortha and Redhelm the same week.'
2. Lift the broken seal in the alley
   The seal half is still pressed into the cobbles where the clerk fell. Three lines crossed by a fourth. Not a guild mark. Not any house you know.
3. Ask the Shortha dockmaster
   'Caravan came in two crates short. Drivers swore the seals were intact at the gate. We pulled one off, kept it as evidence.' He slides a wax chip across. Same four lines.
4. Press the Shortha fence
   He looks at the chip and looks away. 'I don't know the man. I know who pays for the wax. Redhelm chandler, works out of the prospect cabin. He stamps for anyone with coin.'
5. Confront the chandler
   The chandler is gone. His ledger is open on the table, every page torn at the same line. The wax is still warm on the stove. Someone left fast and left muscle behind.
6. Drop the chandler's muscle
   He came out of the back room swinging a hauler's hook. He's down. The torn ledger pages were stuffed in his coat. The chandler stamped seals for a single buyer for two years.
