The arc reads clean on its own terms. The backflow isn't coming from the arc. Something in the rift is taking the charge before it reaches the conduit.
Read the rift's pull
The rift is feeding something on the other side. The pull pattern is steady, intentional, paced like a worker drawing on a winch. Someone over there is using your circuit as a tap.
Set a counter-sigil at the fragment
You cut a counter-sigil at the fragment and bind it to the conduit master's mark. The next pull from the other side meets resistance. The tap closes by inches.
Reset the font on the clean side
The font flares once, holds, then steadies. The charge climbs back into the conduits at the right rate. The line will hold through tomorrow's draw.
Report the tap to the conduit master
She listens without interrupting. 'A tap from the other side. I'll log it and write the council. You bought us a clean line this week. That's enough for now.'
