Half the Stillbark orchard rows turned brown overnight and the grower wants the cause found.

Requirements

Meet the grower at Stillbark Bank
'Rows nine through fourteen went brown in one night. No frost, no rot smell. I want every leaf turned and the soil scraped before I lose the rest.'
Inspect the brown rows
The brown rows trace a perfect line, not a patch. Something walked the path between rows eight and nine and the trees on the wrong side died of it.
Test the soil at the Stillbark Obelisk
The soil sample fizzes against the obelisk stone. Not blight. Something pulled the life out the way you'd squeeze water from a rag.
Replant the affected rows
You cut and burn the dead wood and plant six new saplings. The new soil holds. Whatever walked the path is gone for now.
Report to the grower
He nods at the new saplings and pours two cups of cider. 'Six rows is bad. Twelve would have broken me. Take this and the rest of the cider.'
