Splitstone Wild Feast

A wild feast around the campfire needs hard-won ingredients.

Walkthrough

1. Take the camp cook's list
   She's older than the camp and meaner than the weather. 'Crab from the spit, herbs off the patch, a song at the fire. You're the runner. I'm the cook. Don't bring me anything I didn't ask for.'
2. Pull herbs from the patch
   You crouch in the patch and pull hawk seed and calm bloom the way she showed you. The roots come up clean. You shake the dirt off and wrap them in the cloth from her apron.
3. Hand the herbs to the spit
   The crab is already on the spit when you arrive. She takes the herbs without thanks, packs them under the shell, and seals the lid with mud. 'Half an hour. Go fetch the singer.'
4. Bring the singer to the fire
   The singer follows you back with a lute and no shoes. She starts a story about a foreman and a haunted shaft and the whole camp eats out of the same pot in silence. The cook eats last and best.
