The Pinegap Burglary
An imp coven is lifting from Pinegap craftworkshops and the constable wants them out.
Requirements
Walkthrough
- Speak to the constable at Pinegap BankHe has a singed lockbox and a list of stolen tools. 'Four shops hit this week. Scorch marks at every entry. Imps, plural. Find their nest and end the coven.'
- Check the latest hit at the workbenchThe workbench shop was hit last night. The good chisels are gone, the apprentice's stipend is gone, and one window is cracked outward, not inward. They left through the window in a hurry.
- Trace the alley back to their roostSmudges of soot every twenty feet down the alley. The trail breaks into a side-cut that ends at a boarded-up workshop. You can hear chattering through the boards.
- Charge a binding circle at the crystalThe pinegap crystal holds a binding circle long enough to fold it into chalk dust. Sprinkled across the workshop's threshold, it will lock anything inside from teleporting out.
- Lay the binding at the boarded shopYou lay the dust across the threshold and tear down the boards. The chattering stops. Six imps and one bigger one stare back at you from inside. The big one moves first.
- Cut down the head impThe head imp went down first because it tried to teleport and the binding caught it mid-flicker. The others scattered to the back wall. You took them at the corners. The stolen tools are stacked in a crate by the door.
- Hand the recovered tools to the constableHe returns the four shops' tools by hand the same evening. 'I'll keep the binding-dust trick in mind. You did the constable's work for him tonight. Eat at any of the four shops on the house.'
