Icemast Ice Fishing Master

An old fisher wants apprentices taught the frozen lake's secrets.

Requirements

Meet the old fisher at the bank
He's already at the counter with two augers and a sled. 'I've taught the lake for forty years. Walk a circuit with me, and you'll teach the next lot when I'm gone.'
Cut the first hole at the lake
He picks a spot by the colour of the ice, not the depth. 'Black ice means deep, white ice means thin, blue ice means lucky. Today we want blue.'
Smoke the first catch
The kitchen master takes the octopus without comment and lays it on the smoke rack. 'Old man's been bringing me one of these every week for thirty years.'
Cut the deeper hole
He walks you out past the bend where the lake floor drops twenty fathoms. 'Bait sinks slow, fish rise slow. Patient.'
Settle the apprenticeship
He hands you the smaller auger and a scrap of paper with names on it. 'Five kids in the village want to learn. Start with the one whose name is twice.'
