The Lost Verse

A Highroot bard wants a verse no one remembers. Find the fragment and sing it back.

Requirements

Meet the bard at Highroot Bank
She tunes a beat-up lute on the counter without looking up. 'I'm short a verse for a piece my grandmother used to play. Walk the expedition trail and see if anyone scratched the words anywhere.'
Search the expedition for the fragment
Under a tarp at the back of a surveyor's tent, you find a slate scratched with two lines and a tempo mark. The hand is old and the ink is bog-water grey.
Test the meter at Highroot Court
You read it out at six-eight to the court master. He stops mid-pour and listens. 'That's a hill march. Bring it back to her in the right time and she'll know it.'
Sing the verse back to the bard
You sing the two lines at marching tempo. She mouths the third before you start it. 'That's the one. There are more verses out there. One per region.'
