The Ledge Collapse

A whole shift went under the ledge when the seam gave way, get them out.

Requirements

Meet the foreman at Grimstone Bank
The foreman is already drunk and it isn't noon. 'Six of mine are still under the ledge. The seam was paying out tungsten when it folded. I need someone who can dig and read a sigil. That's you or no one.'
Reach the collapse face
The face is half open and half rubble. You hear tapping from inside the second cut. Someone is alive. The roof groans every time the wind shifts.
Set a holding sigil at the arc
The arc smith burns the holding sigil into a slab the size of a door. It won't hold forever. He hands it over without looking up. 'One trip in. One trip out.'
Brace the second cut
The slab settles into the cut and the groaning stops. Four miners crawl out coughing. Two more are still in deeper. You go after them.
Refresh the sigil at the arc
The sigil is already burning out. The smith carves it a second time and a third. 'Last one. After this the slab cracks.'
Pull the miners and strip the seam
You drag the last two roped miners clear, then work the seam fast while the slab still holds. The shift's pull is saved as the roof comes down behind you.
Settle up with the foreman
He counts the bars onto the table and slides half across. 'Six men. A shift's pull. I owe you more than coin but coin's what I have.'
