The Glowrock court needs a missing harmony for the autumn anthem. The conductor is two weeks behind.

Meet the conductor at Glowrock Bank
She has a score with one line scratched out and three in its place, none of them right. 'The third harmony is wrong. The autumn anthem opens in twelve days. Fix it.'
Hear the choir run the harmony
The choir lands the first two harmonies clean, then the third drops a step. The same note every time. The line was written for a voice the court doesn't have.
Borrow the Highroot range singer
The Highroot court lends a contralto who can take the missing note without strain. She reads the score once and laughs. 'Your conductor wrote this for me twenty years ago.'
Rerun the harmony with the singer
The harmony lands on the third pass. The choir holds the note past the bar and the conductor closes her eyes for the first time in two weeks.
Feed the choir from the bakery
The baker sends bread and warm broth to the court without asking. 'Half my custom is in that choir. Keep them singing.' The choir eats standing, then runs the full anthem twice more.
Tell the conductor the anthem is whole
She doesn't smile. She does sit down. 'Twelve days. We'll be ready. The Highroot singer can keep the fee I would have paid you. You did the harder work.'
