The Battlefrost Seal

A seal at the Battlefrost fragment has cracked. The smith wants it closed tonight.

Walkthrough

1. Meet the smith at Battlefrost Bank
   The smith holds a cracked seal-plate up to the lamp. 'Hairline through the binding mark. Something on the other side has been worrying it for weeks. We close it tonight.'
2. Forge a fresh seal-plate at the smithy
   You and the smith work the plate in alternating strikes. The pattern comes out clean on the third heat. The smith stamps her own mark next to yours. 'Now it's both of ours.'
3. Imbue the seal at Windhollow Conduit
   The conduit drinks the binding salt. The runes settle in cold.
4. Set the new seal at the fragment
   You set the plate into the fragment housing. The fragment flares once and pulls the binding tight. Then a hand comes through the hairline before it can close.
5. Put the demon down at the fragment
   It came through halfway before you closed with it. You finished it standing astride the seal. The crack ran black for a moment, then sealed clean under the demon's weight.
6. Tell the smith the seal is shut
   She pulls a bottle of whiskey from under the counter and pours two. 'Both our marks held. I'll check it every dawn for a month. Drink, then go sleep.'
