A cartographer wants the high peaks mapped before snow shuts the trails.

Requirements

Meet the cartographer at the bank
'I've got two weeks before the passes close. Walk the survey ridge first, then the long line up to the cartograph table. I'll mark what you bring back.'
Sketch the ridge stones
The wind off the ridge cuts your fingers half-numb in twenty minutes. You pencil in the fossil bed, three burrows, and a passage that wasn't on last year's sheet.
Trade notes at the tavern
An old guide hears your route and orders a second drink. 'There's a spring two switchbacks past the cairn. If you find it before it freezes over you'll have something worth the climb.'
Plot the high cartograph
You ink the spring in at the cartograph table while the cartographer measures distances with a string. The cavern mouth above it lines up with a star on her older chart.
File the finished map
She rolls the sheet, seals it, and stows it in the chest behind her. 'That cavern's worth a second trip in spring. Snow'll bury the entrance by week's end.'
